Yuan Rung Hospital, part of the Yuan Rung Healthcare System, recently admitted a 54-year-old patient surnamed Wang, a hepatitis B carrier, who was originally receiving regular antiviral medication in the outpatient clinic. During a check-up in August this year, a liver tumor was unexpectedly discovered, and imaging studies highly suspected it to be malignant liver cancer. The patient had previously undergone radiofrequency ablation for liver cancer, and it was determined that the tumor had recurred. The medical team immediately arranged an angiography to evaluate performing transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for the liver tumor. According to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Welfare for 2024, liver cancer ranks second among the top ten causes of cancer deaths in Taiwan and should never be underestimated.
